So I've undertaken a rebuild of the cooling system in my H. The packing was leaking, and since it's winter, I figured now was a good time to tear everything apart and do some work.
Anyway, I've got two questions. First, I'm assuming that the water pump sleeve pressed into the pump body. I'd like to thoroughly clean and paint the body but am wondering if I should try taking out the sleeve or leave it in place. The impeller shaft isn't very worn and is a good fit. Is there a trick to removing it without damaging the threads on the end?
Second, I need to replace pulley flange. As you can see below, it was cracked at some point and then welded. It's worked without issues, but I'd rather not rely on it forever. How do I take the pulley off of the hub? The bearings and oil seals were ok, but I'm going to replace them also. From the looks of things, the pulley is pressed onto the hub, so any advice on removing them would be most appreciated.
