The "German Diesel" was built by IHC Nuess plant. It was an in-line 6 of 310 or 358 CID. First used in the 756 series as the 310 to replace the Melrose Park 312.(over-grown 282) Much better engine, cleaner looking without all the added on plumbing of the Melrose engines. The 826 used the 358 and the last 686's and Hydro 86's used the 310. Then the 786 and 886 used the 358. The last Farmall to use the 358 was the 3088. The 359 also found it's way into the 1420 Axial-Flow combine and cotton pickers rated at about 125 hp. A shop that did M&W Gear co. R&D work in north central ILL. had a 756 with the 310cid that would sit on a PTO dyno ALL DAY at 140 hp. The neighbor across the road bought a 756 one week and an early JD4020 Power Shift the next week. The 756 would work rings around the green tractor. Very Under-rated at 75 HP.

It is also very apparent that these folks are getting a lot of very poor and often very dangerous advice fro
