Hi 151, my brother's 454 has being doing that for 20+ years and it has well over 15,000 Hrs on it. I did play with Rev/Neutral/Hi/Lo shift lever and found when sitting in Neutral and if you move the lever more towards Rev position the transmission rattle will stop. Most rattle occurs when shift lever 1 to 4 is in 4. I suspect it has something to do with syncros partially engaged.
