Getting started on rebuilding the engine in my M. I've rebuilt more than a few engines but this is my first time dealing with cylinder sleeves, so I've been searching the archives here for information. It seems there was some variance in the boring of the blocks and each cylinder was stamped with a letter A-D at the factory. A being slightly smaller by a few thousands and D being slightly larger. Checked the deck of my block today, and I have two "D" cylinders and two "C"'s. Am I correct in what I have interpreted? If I am correct, am I going to have issues with loose fit of replactment sleeves (was planning on purchasing a rebuild kit from this site)? Any info would be appreciated (even if it is to tell me I'm wrong).
