I wouldn't be so sure of that. My float shaft fell of of it's hanger (not sure of the correct terminology). This allowed the float to not properly close the needle and thus let a bunch of gas get into the crankcase. By a bunch of gas, I mean that the oil was a little runny and had the smell of gas. The owner of the suspect tractor in this thread did not say if there was a lot of gas (like it was making a quart of oil a day) or if it was as I described with my 1940 H, just a little runny and smelly. I am sorry, I think that the tractor vet had a pretty good reply and gave a good explanation to you as to the laws of gravity. It very well could be that the gas is getting by worn rings, but checking the float level and needle first would make sense to me. Who's the loser?
