Ok this might be a stupid question but I been watching a
bunch of videos and reading about pulling with a 560 diesel
I asked for some help before my first pull with the 560 and first
pull on a transfer sled and got a lot of good input
My question is some people told me low gear for weight of my
tractor and classes I would be pulling in and videos I watch
showed that as well. Well my first pull I tried 3 rd and had to
use ta and was about outta power when I spun out in the 9500
pound class so in the 10500 class I tried 2nd took first place
not bad for newbie and took 2nd in the free for all pull in 2nd
gear as well never struggled for power a bit now I get a little
black smoke when pulling a hard hill or on acceleration but
when I was really pulling hard on that sled not a lot of smoke
Now in the videos I have seen these 560 say in low gear in a
lighter class and they are really pouring out the black smoke
and seem to run outta power what am I missing or what do I
have?
Only thing I know on my 560 is i bought from second owner
who bought from the widow of original owner who farmed with
it and said had a engine overhaul 10 tp 12 years ago and had
not gotten many hours on it since
It runs nice when cold start might only smoke for 25 to 30
seconds then clears right up
Why do those others seem to blow so much black smoke and
run outta power and mine smokes little and seems to have
good power?
Some day I will find a dyno near by to really see
Thanks for your time dan

Today's Featured Article - The Rescue of a Fordson F - by Anthony West. Introduction I live in the UK and have for many years restored Fordson tractors (in the main model N's). I have also restored and shown model F's, E 27N's, Field Marshall Series 2, David Brown Cropmasters and the old rey Fergeson T 20. At one time I had seven restored examples which were shown and used in ploughing matches. As most restorers, I have a number of war stories I can relate on a range of topics that may help other like minded and interested people. Perhaps my first p ... [Read Article]
