I have to agree with BamaBinder, I saw a kinda rough '54 with live Hyd. and fair tires sell for $2600 just outside of Madison WI 3 yrs ago. I understand they're more like $3500 to $4000 in Iowa. I've got a manual trip bucket loader on my '54 w/ live 2-way hyd., good Firestone rear rubber, fluid (& rusty rims too) and 1 set of rear weights. Good 20+ yr. old paint, always shedded, I wouldn't part with it, but with the loader it's closer to a $4000 to $5000 tractor. It's the tractor I ran as a kid 30 yrs ago. And there's as much difference between a Super H and an H as there is between a Super M and an M. Lots of durability improvements in the engine & transmission. Guy Fay does an excellent job of describing the differences in his book on restoring the Letter Series. The late model series II, ser. # 19227 and up are really rare, only about 8000 made. You can add bigger sleeves & pistons, live Hyd., faster 2nd, 3rd, & 4th gears, disc brakes, but an H is still just one of 397,000+ made over a 14 yr. period.

We have already talked about some of the colors the unit might leave as clues to its well-being. Now we are going to use our noses to diagnose particular smells. ELECTRICAL SMELLS
