I have read a lot on this board about mowing with a Cub and there seems to be a difference of opinion on whether they mow well with a 5 foot mower. My experience is that if you have a 5 foot mower with a Cub that is not all worn out, you will be fine on level ground and in 1st gear. That is how I do most all of my mowing. I set the deck for 3 inches- do yourself and your lawn a favor. I use my tired Red Cub with a 5 ft. sickle bar to cut around the fields since it doesn't require much h.p.
