After Rebuilding I prime and paint mine same color as tractor [red of course] and then put in new fuel and idle needles and leave them brass. When you wash tractor you can wash carb with soap and water and its stays nice looking. Whatever you like is what I would do. I agree with the others that to heck with original if you want to do it its your tractor!
