I posted the above question thinking of just the gasoline engines, diesels really didn't come into there own for another 5 years. And the better the diesels got the less they had in common with the gassers. The biggest bennifet to me is lower noise and vibiration, less operator fatigue and the tractor stays bolted together. The biggest drawback is the 6 has less stroke which lowers lugging ability for the same motor displacement. kev
