Tom, First of all do you have water in the oil, or oil in your water, if non of the above then you need to look at the side plate first. This plate on the side of the block is access to the water jackets. It could be possible that the leak is coming from there. This plate has a gasket that fits between the block and that plate, they go bad after a long period of time. I would not try tighting up the bolts or nut for fear of twisting them off. It is a fairly easy thing to change this gasket, one you have to take off the gas line, choke rod, air cleaner tube, then take off the intake manifold which is not hard, 10 bolts
and it's off, you will have to replace intake manifold gasket though. Also that plate can get pin holes in it and leak water, the manifold gasket can be bought at your NAPA dealer if you want or all the can be bought at your Case/IH dealer. Ok next if you find after replacing this gasket and or side panel then you might look at replacing the head gasket. I for one feel it's not your block, but I'm also not there to look at it, I have offered a few steps before you start thinking about major things. Just my two cents, there are many on here that know far more than me :o)
