The way dealerships work can vary greatly.
If you want parts go to the parts counter directly.
Find out which parts man knows more about your machine.
Call ahead, if given a week then your special order parts can come with all the other non rush parts and shipping is much less.
It may seem like alot of money for you but not much for them, be glad they can get these old parts at all!
Parts values vary alot to, a gear shift knob was less than 5 bucks, a pair of small distributer springs were over $20! They don't always have a fair price for old parts but that is not CIHs core business so it pays to shop arround.
If you can, try the other CIH dealers in your area, I am lucky as the closest one has been there 75 years, the next closest one just wants to lease new combines, he is a big dealer but has thin costomer support localy.
The one you describe sounds like a car dealership!
The local JD dealers parts counter is so slow we always call in ahead, when we get there the parts are sacked and billed, other wise it takes 20 to 30 min. Just traded of that tractor so not a proablem now.
My local parts men, shop forman, and the owner have all been great guys to work with, I hope there are other dealers like them out there.
