Its round with square teeth . I will take a peek at the metal part that slides . Does seem to be quite a bit of pressure the wrong way against it though . About how much force is normal ? This is my first old tractor , so nothing to go by . Maby take a look at my neighbors too . There are a few of these around this area still . Alburg , Vt Sounds like you got what it is . Thanks
