Why not have the generator rebuilt to 6v, assuming it is still 6v. There seems to be a mistique around installing an alternator and throwing out the 6 volt generator, and all things being equal if the systems are in good shape, the 6 volt is fine. I had the H 6v generator converted to 12v, with the same case, that may be another option if you like 12v. Personally, the alternator is out of place on the smaller IHC line, especially if you have little or nothing to gain.
