Yes, you need a dual shaft PTO from a smaller tractor like a 1066( I think it will fit but I know it fits a 1466,1586 should be the same). Old one pulls out new one goes in after getting the linkages and bolts out. Be careful to get the splines on the coupler aligned when putting it back or you will break the cap in the front by the clutch. I don"t remember how we were told to turn the shaft, hopefully someone here can tell, We did this back in the 80"s and I forgot how. I think some but not all of the oil needs to be drained from the rear end. My brothers 1586 has a dual on it , I saw it yesterday when I was pulling a 27" field cultivator and needed to put fuel in,went through 75 gallons.
