You have the right thing in mind. A lot of folks think it eats up rims and it does if they get a hole in the tube and don't bother to fix it. We have actually run cacl next to the rims without tubes with no damage. The solution must cover the whole rim so air is not present to cause oxidation. Be sure and wash everything that comes in contact with the solution because it is very corrisive.
