At 25 miles north of Boston, I am in the bull's eye. All the TV stations are storm reporting round the clock. There is an expectation that this might be the fifth worse, or better, Nor-Easter since records have been maintained. I believe this goes back to around 1860.
24"+ snow. A couple of areas are forecast for 30".
Winds to 70-75 mph on the coast.
$500 dollar fine if caught on any road without an approved exemption. (Snowplows and emergency personnel). This hasn't happened since 1978.
Astronomical high tides with the new moon. There will be houses swept out to sea at 10PM tonight or 11AM tomorrow. The tide tomorrow will be higher but the wind direction will be less damaging. (How come all these coastal storms hit with a new or full moon?)
Don"t expect a power outage as the temps are low and the snow is dry. Its blowing around and not sticking to anything. May be some roof and side wall damage due to drifting.
Just heard that the wet snow and wind south of Boston has caused 500,000 outages. Nuke plant at Plymouth is also down but won't meltdown like the ones in Japan two years ago.
