Like what Pete said i will add this , (1) they DO NOT have and accelerator pump built into the carb it is a UP DRAFT CARB and when the engine is COLD they will plum flat fall on there face and die . THEY DO NOT HAVE A AUTOMATIC CHOKE and they require some choke being used till they warm up , and warm up time is not set in stone , (2) is the thermostat working ?? do you have any idea if it is ?? Do you have the correct plugs in the engine ?? is the cent.. advance working ?? is the timing set correctly?? when was the last time the valves were set Correctly ?? Then once you have answered YES to the above then guess what ------ It is still going to fart pop and die till it warms up . So start the tractor let it run at about 750-1000 RPM and go do something else for ten min.'s while it warms up . If you are like my friend he jumps up in the seat turns the key on and fires it up and in gear and out the door and complains about it stumbling . Me i go start the tractor and go do something else while they warm up and when i do get on the seat i can put it into gear and DRIVE IT OUT and open the throttle up and guess what it does not stumble , fart pop cough it just goes.
