yup, and I agree. The only reason I take my batteries out is NOT for fire protection. For any of my tractors that will not be used over the winter, batteries out and fuel shut off (or drained). I do this for easy starting in the spring. batteries kept on trickle charge all winter in a heated basedment. Fuel drained and used in the other tractors that get work during the winter.
IN the spring, install battery. 5 gallons of fresh fuel. Rock and roll. most usually fire right up on the 2nd revolution.
