If everything is as good as you say I wouldn't be afraid to go $2000 -$2500 with the belly mower. This is also considering you want it, not going just to be there and buy a tractor because it was the right price. I would be leary though if he won't let you see it. At any sale I have ever planned on going to and wanted a preview of the equipment I have never been turned down. Generally they will do anything to help you out, considering they want the most for their stuff. I would go over it with a fine tooth comb the day of the sale. Drive it and let it run for a while. I would be afraid of anything that supposedly is "this good" or "had this just done" and they won't let you see it except for sale day. Then again there might be nothing wrong with it.
