Hi Bob, One thought. Your pump was designed for 30w oil and hy-tran is very thin oil of 10w. Will the pump pressure up being designed for a heavier weight oil? And the pump has seen some orperating time since new so is worn a bit. My son says they been using 10w/30 motor oil on new hydraulic equipment for several years without any problems here in Arizona where summer temps demand a heavy weight oil. When I talked with our local IH dealer he stated the HY-tran worked just great during the summer heat. Sons says BS! Colder climates it might not make any difference. I just changed my oil in my 340U with a Pippin loader/hoe and used 10w/30 motor oil. It looked like it had watered hy-tran in it before I changed it, about 1gal of pure water drained. Pretty sad shape as the oil looked carmel colored. Were at 55 at nite and 80 degrees during the daytime and before the change the hydraulic system was poor at best. After the change it was like I put in a new hydraulic pump. More work needs to be done on the seals but the seals do leak less using the 10w/30. I'm putting in new seals this winter so I'll be the test for all ya'll on whether motor oil damages seals or not. :) T_Bone
