Hi Jason, are you saying your 684 does not even have a 3pt and draft control? I assume what you are calling the hydraulic pump is the MCV (Multi Control Valve) that the filter is attached to? The pump is actually behind the MCV. The MCV's function is to split up the 12 GPM hydraulic flow from the pump into 3 GPM@1500 PSI for PS and PB, 9 GPM@2500 PSI for 3pt and remotes, and 160 PSI for PTO. Looking at filter on MCV the left side is for PS and PB, top right is for PTO and right is for 3pt and remotes. All the other plugs are for relief valves, splitter and test ports. Hydraulic housing is the large casting that is mounted on top of differential housing, has the 3pt rock shafts and the hydraulic filler plug and a good portion is under the deck plate under the seat. To access Tube #39 you have to lift the seat and the deck plate, elbow #38 is located under the deck plate at the right front corner of the seat at the right front corner of hydraulic housing.
The hydraulic system on 684 is open center meaning that hydraulic flow has to continuous high pressure to return. If you are planning on connecting the high pressure side to a remote on a log splitter and return to drain plug under axle that will work but if you remove the log splitter control valve out of the circuit then you will have to connect pressure line to return line.
