We pulled the pan off the tractor and gave it a pressure test. Revealed antifreeze flowing around the #4 cylinder. I pulled the head and pulled the sleeve and all 3 of the rubber o-rings at the base of the sleeve were messed up. This engine only had 2800 original hours on it but I suppose just being 25 years old will cause problems. Sleeve looked good with good cross hatchings. Put new rings on the piston and also replaced the rod bearings on all the pistons. Time will tell weather I should have done all the cylinders but a couple of factors weighed in on my decision to do one. Cost-money is always tight. My lack of mechanical ablility. This has improved greatly and I am finding I really enjoy tinkering with a tractor now that I am married and have a young boy. A little more of my time is spent at home. Time will tell if my decision is wise or not but it is just a hobby tractor and I as I gain experience, the fixes will be easier (I hope). Also, some other folks had a similiar problem and went the same route and seemed to work out ok. Take care
