Yes, I did this. The easiest way is to stick a tape measure into the crank hole on the front grill and bottom it out in the crank socket that forms the front of the crankshaft belt pulley. This measurement gives you the position on the first bend. Put the second bend about 10-12 inches further on. Put the pin about an inch to an inch and a half from the end of the crank (use the tape measure again to measure the depth to the front of the belt pulley if you want a more exact figure). Use a headless 3/8 bolt or threaded rod about 1 and a half inches long for the pin. Drill the hole undersize a bit and tap it out, and screw the pin in. Another way is to tack weld it in place, or drill small holes through the pin and cotter-pin/lockwire it in place, or use a punch and peen it to get it to stay put. Hope that helps.
