Incidentally, I broke down and ordered myself a tap this week. Most are price prohibitive for occasional use (at or over 200 dollars). I have found Irwin offers one that retails in the 75-95 dollar range. You can find it online. It is a two week + back order through my supplier at work but I'm promoting my employer that way... The CIH dealer charges 1/2 hour labor to retap a manifold if you bring it in yourself, which is not a bad price and handy during an overhaul or head job. But if you consider your time put into R&R a manifold just for thread repair and waiting for them to have time to do it, I figure if I use it 2 or 3 times in my life it will pay for itself and if it's too cheaply made that's all it will last anyway. I'll soon find out if it was a good buy...your mileage may vary. Karl f
