I agree with Brownie. After eliminating the valve adjustment, and other easy to get at components, go inside. Use an automotive stethescope to try to isolate the noise. Pull and ground one plug wire at a time to assess if it can be changed with, and isolated to one cylinder. Look at the front pulley to assess if the crank is moving excessively front to back (in and out) have some one push on the clutch while it is being listened to. Pressure on the Forks pushes on the crank and can dampen the effects of loose thrust bearings. Chipped constant mesh teeth in the trans can also have sound that dislocates to other places (clutch depression will check this as well.) Wrench after diagnosis, not before. Jim
