So, the tapped hole in the lower rad tank where the drain petcock is supposed to go, was sealed shut with autobody putty. started to leak. Cleaned it out, and found that 1/3 of the lower right cast iron was gone, broken off.
To correct this, I was not happy about replacing the tank. So, bought a brass spigot valve at Coolsprings show on Friday. Cleaned out the putty, ran a NPT tap in to clean out the threads. Mixed up some JB Weld, and gave it a good slather and installed the spigot valve. Let cure overnight. Spigot works great, but there was still seepage around where the repair was.
One bottle of Bar's Leaks, and 1 hour of running with cardboard in front of the rad to get it hot, and no more leaks. Will post pics later tonight. Will run with the bar's leaks for a bit, then flush her out and add the 50/50 water/antifreeze.
I also did a little research on BAr's Leaks, and read exactl what it is, and how it works. I have always used it before, with good success, and was a little afraid of using it in a thermo-syphon system. Not any more. If you have seeps and weeps, or small holes, I am now totally sold on it.
