Mark, You should have a sleeve with a cotter pin at each end of the coupling shaft. Once the lift-all is installed just slide the sleeve toward the center of the coupling shaft, install the coupling and slide the sleeves out towards each end of the coupler. Then install the cotter pins. As far as the hose shield, there is an after-market shield available that bolts down to the right side of the seat bracket into the deck cover. The shield covers the two hoses (One on top the other) right next to the seat mounting bracket. I got mine from my local Case-IH dealer for around $35.//FB
