H transmision noise

I found that there is a clicking noise coming from somewhere in the tran. on my 41 H. It sounds like a bike peddling backwards. I know it is a little low on fluid so I was going to get some and put it in. Bad Idea Good Idea? Am I going to be covering up a potentialy serious problem perhaps a bad bearing or is this noise normal when fluid is low.thanks in advance aaron Please send any follow ups by email at least until the server thing is done on this site.
