a little pulling it wouldn't hurt in my opinion, but be careful. For the most part it sounds like you have a motor rebuild in order. I would pull the head off and see what damage there is. Even though these tractors sit with covers and the exhaust closed off, there is alway at least one valve open and all that it takes is a little mosture from the air to get into it. It will rust it up good. I would suggest trying to pull it reverse gear but forward as well as first gear. This will cause the piston to move in both directions. Although I have been known to try these methods with some success, I DO NOT RECOMMEND IT to everyone. EXTREME caution should be excersied. When you are dragging a stuck motor you are most likely exerting all the forces onto one specific part of the motor, specifically a piston. If you go too far it is possible to crack a piston, or bend a rod. That is alot more expensive than a head gasket. So act like you are playing with fire when dragging it, because you are! What I DO RECOMMEND is you lift one tire off the ground and put the tractor in the highest gear. then every day or couple of times a day,you can rock the tire in both directions with as much force as you can exert without outside forces. This should help free up a motor that is not so stuck that it doesn't need to come apart. If this doesn't work, PULL IT APART!! sorry to ramble but I would hate to have you write back asking where to find another motor....

By the way did you pull the plugs? you are not hydraulicing it with all the fluids in the cylinders are you...did the plugs have rust on them....

Today's Featured Article - Choosin, Mounting and Using a Bush Hog Type Mower - by Francis Robinson. Looking around at my new neighbors, most of whom are city raised and have recently acquired their first mini-farms of five to fifteen acres and also from reading questions ask at various discussion sites on the web it is frighteningly apparent that a great many guys (and a few gals) are learning by trial and error and mostly error how to use a very dangerous piece of farm equipment. It is also very apparent that these folks are getting a lot of very poor and often very dangerous advice fro ... [Read Article]
