Seems like the 455 (newer version of 40) we bought we paid $400. If your in the market, keep in mind the disc openers for seed are nicer than the shoes. Also, pay attention to the augers for fertilizer, they like to rust-out. Same goes for the hoppers for fertilizer, unless it already has the fiberglass on it. Our model 40 had steel, but had always been oiled after each season. Not sure what plates will do for value, they're all interchangable. Hope this helps!
