I just want to start this off by saying engine trouble is not my strong suit. I previously noticed that my Farmall 300 engine was missing on one cylinder. I thought it may be just a stuck valve, but it never cleared up. So I pulled the tappet cover, and noticed one push-rod was not in the rocker anymore. There was an issue that the top of the tightener had been slightly stripped, so the jam nut could not be tightened. This problem was fixed with a new tightener screw. However, when I was installing this I noticed that the tightener screw had to tightened substantially more than all the others. It almost seems that the push-rod is not as long. I don"t know if something is going on down below that is causing this? I switched push-rods with another valve and this issue still persisted. If you could offer any suggestions, it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
