Ken: There are codes cast into major cast iron parts such as the top deck over the tranny, clutch housing and rear end that most likely are from the original. These codes have three parts. First two sets are month\year and last is a letter. The letters start with R being 1948, S being 1949 etc ..U would be 1951 if I counted right. So look under your left foot just behind the clutch. Whats is the three part code? Guy Fays DATA book is great for this and its only about $10. Over 50 years there can be mix and match on any machine. There are also many other minor changes. Disk brakes are a quick Super C item to check. good luck..harvey
