H Generator

I took the generator on the H to get it fixed and the parts the guy put in(oil wicks) was only $1.50 and he said it was working fine. So we put the generator on along with a new voltage regulator. It is not charging any different than what it was before. What could be wrong? We are using an 8 volt battery. I need it charging so I can get the lights hooked up. Well thanks in advance!!! RC
