I ran a F-12 a lot in my younger days....1946 and 1947, I was 12 and 13. The F-12 was on full steel and the owner left the rear wheels (hub clamps outside) slid out to the ends of the axles all year around. I found the fenders discarded in the back of a haymow and put them on and that kept me somewhat cleaner as I ran this old girl. I did virtually every farm operation with the F-12, the owner trusted me to be safe and careful with the tractor no matter which job I might be doing. Anyhow evaluating the tractor, (it was a 1937 model with original red paint), I can say it could do just about anything you needed to do on a diversified farm of those days, but you had to have a lot of patience because it was somewhat underpowered and quite slow even in 3rd gear...4+ miles per hour, flat out. The seating position was too low for me and I was only about 5'8" tall. F-14's were about right...H's and M's perfect. JD A's and B's were better too except the steering wheel was too low on the B's. I just hated Allis-Chalmers WC's...except that they had plenty of power, their seating position was awful. Summing it up I feel the F-12 was the poorest tractor I ever ran...but it's design was the oldest too...and the one I ran, being on steel, was an unfair comparison I guess. I overlooked a lot of it's faults, it's owner paid and fed me good...and let me do every tractor job with the old F-12.
