You did not state the weight of oil you are using or the number of hours on the engine and that could help ID your problem. It sounds as if you have a clearance problem(s) in the oil passages. Cam and main bearings also enter into this discussion. Changing the spring pressure is often attempted but that is not the solution. Wait until after you tear down the engine to order anything other than Plastigauge. With the Plastigauge you will be able to acertain the clearances on the main and connecting rod bearings. If these are out of spec, then you will be able to determine your needs. Good luck.
