Bob, All the letter series I've seen have them and yes, they are to minimize the sloshing. The radiator shop that did mine said the metal was about 3/16" thick. When you look into your tank with a flashlite the metal you see toward the rear of the tank is actually the baffle. The gas flows all the way back to the rounded end of the tank.//FB
