I think Pete is on to something with the gasket. a few years ago I replaced a TA in a 1086 that was burned up and came apart. the whole time I was doing the job I was looking for a reason for the failure. when i was checking out the valve I noticed that there were two holes that looked torn in the gasket, I found that the two holes were the TA pressure but the lube oil port was not open. there was a part # on the gasket and when i checked sure enough it was for a non TA MCV valve. I asked the customer about it he said they rebuilt the valve the year before for a leak. In your case I would check all the adjustments and check the system pressure. the Ta relief valve is on the upper rt side of the MCV valve. you should have to realy fight against the spring to get the plug started to get good pressure. Good luck Ed
