Sawtooth throttle controls are actually relatively easy to repair if you have access to a welder or can weld yourself. Run a heavy bead of weld along the worn teeth and on the single tooth on the handle.

Rough shape with weld with a bench grinder on both parts. Use a mill file to recut the notches into the throttle plate and the handle. I did one last year, took me about 3 hours to weld, grind, and file.

With a coat of paint on, you wouldn't know that it had been redone.

One last hint, I put a slight twist/bend in the handle so that the "tooth" in the handle engages the plate more agressively. Imagine a right triangle with the veritcal side to the right. both vertical surfaces (plate and handle) should be exactly parallel when they make contact. That is the slight bend that you may have to put in the handle.
