Less work to restrict the valve exhaust port on a double acting cylinder. Probably not necessary anyway with the supply line regulator.
Not even sure a slow and smooth engagement is desirable although some of that will occur due to the medium and the springs inside the IPTO. Seems like slippage might promote band wear. At this point, I am thinking I'll want to run the cylinder at more than 40 lbs to insure there is no slippage when loaded. Adjustments will be needed depending on how many freezers are spinning and how much power the ice chipper draws. Tweaking of the system will occur at a much later date.
