Again with the bullcage

I know removal for H and M's was covered earlier but I have a question for removal on a SM. My manual says the cage can be removed just by unbolting it. I too have a bad story on this with a M from 30 years ago. So when I tried to remove it and could not I stopped (who says old dogs can''t learn new tricks) maybe just stuck from all the varnish but I would feel a lot better about putting more effort to it if anyone can tell me for sure the right way.
