If you remove the engine oil pan you'll see a strainer hanging down that the oil is sucked up through, I believe it's retained by a single cotter pin. Once you've removed that you'll see that the bottom plate of the oil pump (which the strainer hangs from) is only made of pot metal. Often they warp/wear and either allow enough oil to bypass and cause a pressure issue or due the warpage the gasket will blow out. Remove the four bolts that retain the bottom cover, be careful as one of the oil pump gears will also likely fall out. Once you have the cover plate off you can either get it machined flat, use a piece of course emery cloth on a flat surface (such as a robust sheet of glass), or if you're very good file it flat. If you'll remove the complete oil pump assembly and support it upside down in a bench vise, you can then remove the bottom cover without the gears falling out. (just a hint)
