Some help on IH history and CIH

I know IH sadly went out in 1985 and became CIH which I guess kept IH and today the Farmall name alive. I always seem to get in arguements over IH and CIH but I thought I read at one time that IH already had the magnums, 7110,7120,etc. on the drawing board around 1983 and they were patterened off the 5288's and 5488's redesigning the 18 speed trans. and making it a full power shift but a union strike and bad farm economy set IH back. Also, is it true tenneco did not want IH tractors just Case tractors and IH equip. and the IH rotor combine untill farmers did not want case tractors and tenneco bought the magnum plans and put a redesign cummins motor in them to help save the company?
