Well your not going to like this BUT it may vary well be that the thrust bearing or as some call it the main thrust bearing may have started to spin. When you push the clutch pedal down you are forcing the crankshaft forward against the thrust bearing and everything works like it is suppose to . Then something happens and it runs dry for a split second or something causes the tri metal to flake off or grab and it spins maybe a bunch maybe just enough to cause a bind and labor the engine just a wee bit .or lock it up tight as a drum. I am not sayen that this is the problem this is the worse case that it could be and if the engine was laboren and does this when you push the clutch down this is where i would be looking and FAST .
