The pin is tapered and can be wedged in pretty tight. I have had success putting a 7/16" hex nut over the large end of the pin and pressing it out with a 5" C-clamp. Pounding on the threaded end of the pin is a risky proposition.
The driver just turns the impeller shaft. The springs under the driver hold the impeller against the pump housing so it can move the coolant more effectively. The fan hub itself runs on 2 separate bearings which from a practical standpoint will last a whole lot longer than a bushing.
When you have the hub off the housing, there is a pin holding the pulleys on the hub. Look for it at the transition between the two grooves on the non-adjustable part. The pin is short enough to be driven in from the outside. Once the pin is out, press the grooved part off and replace the collar. If the bearings are the originals, consider replacing them at this time.
