Marty:
I have some recent first hand knowledge of this problem and its potential causes that I have gained a couple months ago on this forum and form some other outside sources. This forum is an excellent source of information with very knowledgable people. I had the same problem with a 1466 International that I got out in North Dakota last fall. Nice rig with only 2800 hours. Here is a list of potential answers I received.
1. Cracked or warped head: not likely
2. Bad oil engine cooler: not likely-concensus was
that you would have oil in the anti-freeze and
not vice versa although one IH dealership
mechanic told me it was possible due to certain
types of forces.
3. Bad sleeve O-rings: This is what the problem
is on my rig. I just pulled the bad sleeve a
couple days ago and the rings were shot. I had
a diesel mechanic come out a couple weeks ago
and we pulled the pan and he put a pressure
tester on and you could see right where the
antifreeze was coming from.

4. Pin-holes in the sleeve due to cavitation or
electrolysis. Problem with all diesel engines
according to the mechanics. Different
explanations of the process but due to the
frequency at which the diesels run and the
charges that can occur on the water molecules.
small pinholes may be carved into the sleeve.
Important to maintain coolant very carefully
for this reason.

I am not a real mechanic so I apoligise for any
mixups. This is just a synopsis of the information that I recieved over the last few months. Good luck
