I have a Farmall 504 diesel and it is a good tractor if 48 pto hp is all you need. I put a loader on it myself and it made it a good tractor for my needs. I'd pay no more than $3500 for a 504. I do not know what loader it comes with and would like to know why it is not mounted already. If it is an old style "Freeman" loader with a trip bucket I'd walk away. If it is a modern style like the pictures below, it may be a good buy.

I paid $3800 for a Koyker 220 new and have another $500 easy buying parts, hoses, fittings, and valve bank. So for about $4500 I put a new loader on a 45 year old tractor. Some think it was a bad investment... But the tractor was free. I'd offer $4800 cash and go from there.

I also bought an after market high capacity filter extension for mine. It helps with heavy hydraulic usage, the OEM filter setup sucks. If you are thinking of buying this tractor BOOKMARK OR WRITE THIS WEB ADDRESS DOWN! It is not easy to find, even with Google. These are the only people I know that makes filter extensions that use modern filters.

This is their site.

I know I got carried away with the pictures, but this is my Farmall 504 and it maintains my 50 acre spread well. One day I may get it a 6 cylinder IH to keep it company.

Let us know how it turns out.
