Since you know something is sticking within the clutch, maybe a lot is sticking. Makes me think Bob is on the right track. If it won't come apart following the suggestions already made, you may need to unbolt the pressure plate from the flywheel. I've never had to try it, but think you can do it through the hand hole in the bell housing. If the pressure plate is the type where 3 bolts are used to hold the springs compressed, move every other pressure plate bolt to the open holes then remove the 3 remaining bolts. If you can do that, the pressure plate and clutch disk will stay in the bell housing when you split it. Then you can get at the disk to remove it from the splined shaft.
