Sounds like the manual start switch jumped up and swallowed its rear end. Sometimes you can take it off and clean the contacts. Also, sometimes the starter on my A jams the into the flywheel. I have to loosen the mounting bolts and shake it loose. I carry a wrench in the tool box just for this. If neither of these work...may as well check the starter, but, due to cost I would do that last.
