I am sort of stumped on my 1948 cub 6 volt starter. The starter turns over great if there is no spark (disconnected plug wires or the gas shut off) but as soon as it fires one time the bendix disengages and the starter continues to run disengaged. If I let the start rod in and try it again it engages fine until it tries to fire again. It runs great once it is started or if I pull start it but is really hard to get running sometimes the way this starter is disengaging. I did replace the bendix with a new one and no difference. what do you think?
